City starts roadworks in parts of Durbanville and Bellville

The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility Directorate advises residents, road users, businesses and the broader public of planned roadworks in parts of Langeberg Ridge, Langeberg Village, Schoongezicht, Valmary Park, Vierlanden, Vygeboom, Wellway Park East and Welgemoed. The work is scheduled to take place from Monday, 27 July 2026, until Thursday, 12 November 2026, between 09:00 and 15:30, Monday to Friday, weather permitting and subject to unforeseen delays.
‘These roadworks in Durbanville and Bellville are a vital investment in maintaining a safe, reliable and resilient road network. Regular maintenance not only improves road safety and driving quality, but also extends the lifespan of our infrastructure and helps us avoid more costly repairs in future. We thank residents and road users for their patience while this essential work is under way as we continue to keep Cape Town moving,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The affected roads are as follows:
Langeberg Ridge, Durbanville: Ridge Road, Pine Wood Crescent, Patula Crescent, Jute Crescent and Maritime Street
Langeberg Village, Durbanville: Pioneer Road, Krisant Street and Merry Rocks Close
Schoongezicht, Durbanville: Noordsig Road, Koedoe Road, Vergesig Road, De Tyger Road and Oribie Road
Valmary Park, Durbanville: Jacaranda Avenue, Panorama Drive and Moreson Avenue
Vierlanden, Durbanville: Murray Street
Vygeboom, Durbanville: Tugela Road and Maroela Street
Wellway Park East, Durbanville: Tambotie Crescent, Primula Avenue, Lobelia Road, Dahlia Close, Cyclamen Road, Camelia Way and Tamarisk Street
Welgemoed, Bellville: Rheede Street, Van de Graaf Street, Jansen Street, Craig Street, Da Gama Street and Plettenberg Street
In terms of the scope, the project will include:
Rehabilitation, resurfacing and resealing of existing roads.
Removal of damaged kerbs and installation of new kerbs.
Replacement of selected damaged channels and realignment where required.
Upgrading of gravel roads to asphalt roads.
Reinstatement of all road markings removed during the construction process.
Residents and business owners can expect some construction-related noise during working hours. Traffic congestion and temporary disruptions are anticipated while the works are under way. Road users are encouraged to exercise caution and to use alternative routes where possible and to allow additional travel time.
